                            RECOVERING WOMEN’S HISTORY
                                     TELLING WOMEN’S STORIES

The sixteenth annual All-University Conference on the Advancement of Women in Higher
Education will be held on April 7, 2000 in the University Center.  Sponsored by the Women’s
Studies Council and the Office of Women’s Studies, this annual event highlights the
accomplishments of women faculty, administrators, staff, and students of the South Plains
academic community.  By providing a forum for discussion of issues and concerns common to
women in higher education, the conference contributes to creating an academic environment
more supportive of the advancement of women.  The general public and all students, staff,
and faculty of area colleges and universities are invited to attend.

The first conference was held in the fall of 1984.  Since then, the conference has brought to
Tech women with various experiences as educators, researchers, thinkers, and activists to
deliver keynote addresses and other women from the campus and the community to share
their knowledge and stories as part of discussion panels.  This year’s event will continue that
tradition.  And now that the conference is held in the spring, it has become an extension of
the March Women’s History Month observance.

This display tells the story of previous conferences and invites everyone to join the organizers
in this year’s program.  For more information, contact the Office of Women’s Studies.
