VOICES FROM A DISTANT VILLAGE
AN EXHIBIT IN THREE PARTS

During the month of February, the Exhibits and Outreach from the Southwest Collection/ Special Collections Library will highlight three campus exhibits sponsored by storyteller Eric Strong, Director of Texas Tech’s Upward Bound Programs. The International Cultural Center will feature the exhibit, Sharers of African Folktales, which focuses on Griots, historians and storytellers who passed on oral tradition to later generations.  The Southwest Collection/ SCL exhibit, Heroes, Tricksters and Villains will explore the African and African American folktale and its place in our society.  The Texas Tech University Library will showcase The African and African American Oral Tradition, the ties between African oral tradition and today's African American society.
