FR237 Rainbow Trout Lodge

Includes various images of the lodge and cabins, scenery, people riding horses, people eating and socializing at the lodge, people fishing, people performing in the RTL follies, several different signs for the lodge, the interiors of the lodge and the cabins, cattle in pastures, an oxen yoke, and still lifes of caught fish and of fishing poles. Located in Antonito, Colorado, the lodge was a subdivision of T-Bone Ranches and a popular summer resort, particularly for the Frank Reeves family.

Includes images of men sawing wood, Hereford bull, Rayburn house, Hereford cattle in pasture, landscape, Sam Rayburn, and the Sam Rayburn Library. The ranch, located north of Bonham, Texas, was owned by Sam Rayburn, a former Speaker of the House. The Sam Rayburn Library, located on the west side of Bonham, housed a Congressional collection and oil paintings of various presidents and other influential people in Washington.

Also includes various images of awards and prizes given to Frank Reeves Sr., images of people attending his 1965 exhibit at the Amon Carter Historical Museum, and the images he submitted to the Second Annual Bluebonnet Photo Fiesta Contest.

FR243 Reynolds' X Ranch

Includes various images of several buildings, buffalo grazing, several individual and group photos of people, various riders, Reynolds Cattle Co. sign, riders with Hereford cattle, horses in pen, horse remuda, bullfight, men with chuckwagon, pile of antlers, seated man statue, men with horses, trees, flowers, cacti, and tall vase. The X Ranch near Kent, Texas, was a 225 section ranch that had been owned continuously by the Reynolds family for over sixty years. The ranch was owned by the Reynolds Cattle Co., which had been founded by W. T. and George Reynolds. Afterwards, the X Ranch came into the possession of the four sons of W. T. Reynolds, W. T. Jr., Joe, John, and Watt. The Cattle Co. raised Hereford cattle, cow horses, a string of thoroughbreed horses for racing purposes, and herds of buffalo.

Includes various images of cowboys herding, innoculating, and branding cattle, a boat dock, and windmill and tank. Bought by Sid Richardson in 1946, the ranch was located on St. Joseph Island, which was eight miles out from Rockport in the Gulf of Mexico and was 28 miles long and a maximum 6 miles wide. Santa Gertrudis was the cattle breed of choice.

Includes images of various buildings, Angus cattle near lake, house by lake, two different groups of men seated, and grain silos. Ten miles from Dickson, Tennessee, the farm was operated by A. C. Luther of Fort Worth. Two spring-fed creeks on the farm provided water for irrigation.

Includes images of horses pulling chuckwagon, ranch brand, men branding cattle, Hereford cattle, Farr family posing, and men cooking and eating outdoors. The some 252,000 acre ranch operated in Texas and New Mexico, with its headquarters a few miles north of Barnhart, Texas. The Texas division was better known as the Bar S Ranch which earlier had been owned by the Sawyer Land and Cattle Company. William A. Blakely, a Dallas business man, was owner of both divisions.

Includes various images of horses, people on horseback, Suzy Rush with ponies, man smoking cigar, Henry Elder posing with camera, and barn interior. The Meers, Oklahoma ranch was owned by Frank Rush, a one time trick rider in rodeos. Hereford cattle, Quarter horses, Appaloosas, and Shetlands were raised on the ranch, a portion of which adjoined the Game Reserve that his father had run.
