Matador Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1925-1975 10 negatives. Includes images of Hereford cattle, desert plants, a man on horseback, lily pond, a building with an office sign, a house with two cars, and views of trees and a lake. Established in 1879 by Alfred Markham Britton, Henry Harrison Campbell, and associates, the ranch covered one and a half million acres in Motley, Cottle, Floyd and Dickens counties of Texas. In 1882 the founders sold their cattle and range rights to a syndicate based in Dundee, Scotland. Additional acreage was leased in south central Kansas, the Texas Panhandle, Canada, South Dakota, and Montana and by 1933, the Matador's Texas holdings totaled nearly 900,000 acres. With rare exceptions during periods of drought, substantial dividends were paid annually.

The 450 acre ranch was located a few miles Northeast of Fort Worth, Texas, with another location near Kiwa, Oklahoma. McClung had served as president of the Texas Aberdeen-Angus Association.

Owned by A. T. McDannald, the ranch was headquartered in Hartsel, Colorado.

McInnis, Claude, Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1953 12 negatives. Includes images of Hereford cattle in pasture and by lake, and a creep feeder on the ranch. Half brothers, M. M. Cox and John McInnis began a partnership 1896 to establish the Cox and McInnis Ranch. Claude, one of McInnis's four sons, went into the cattle business for himself in 1946, and he and his family operated the McInnis Ranch in Byrds, Texas.

McMurrey Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1954 11 prints. Includes images of cowboys branding, dehorning, and spraying Hereford cattle, men posing, and men with large scale. The Palo Pinto ranch was a combination ranch and feedlot that was made up of 9,000 acres. McMurrey believed that machine substitution for human labor was important to the increased efficiency of his ranch. The ranch brand consisted of a small "t" on the animal's left shoulder.
FR185 Meadow Lawn Ranch Photograph Collection, 1942-1943 25 negatives. Includes images of Hereford cattle in pasture and by a lake, a house, two men posing with a Hereford bull, and two grain elevators. Located west of Paris, Texas, the ranch was owned by M. A. Smiley.

Mescalero Apache Tribe Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1925-1975 4 prints, 6 negatives. Includes individual images of four different men. Created under the orders of President U. S. Grant in 1872 as a refuge for Apache Indians, the ranch comprised of 1,200,000 acres with headquarters in Mescalero, New Mexico. Later, it became a corporation named the Mescalero Indian Cattle Growers Association, with any member able to buy whatever amout of stock as he wanted.

Mill Iron Hereford Company
Photograph Collection, 1934-1949 76 negatives. Includes various images of Hereford cattle in pasture and pens, people eating, Jetton catering truck, and men posing. In its early days, Mill Iron had around 40,000 head of cattle and its land holdings once totaled about 400,000 acres. W.E. Hughes and John N. Simpson were the original owners.

Miller, Doss, Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1925-1975 22 negatives. Includes images of Shorthorn cattle, man with bull, and two men posing by wall. Owned by J. Doss Miller, the 1,000 acre ranch raised Shorthorn cattle and was located near De Leon, Texas.

Miller Stock Farm
Photograph Collection, 1965 Article only, no prints or negatives. The headquarters of the 1,000 acre farm was located in Fort Hancock, Tex., and located next to the farm was the Ysleta Mission, built in 1682. The farm raised Hereford cattle and it's primary crop income was from cotton.

Mirasol Ranch
Photograph Collection,1965 1 print. Includes one group photo of four people. Located a few miles from Uvalde, the 10,000 acre ranch was owned by Mr. and Mrs. C.A. McDaniel and raised Santa Gertrudis cattle. Masterpiece 511 was one of the ranch's famous bulls, having won several grand championships.

Mitchell, N. M., Ranch
Photograph Collection, 1931-1963 2 prints. Includes images of Hereford cattle in pasture. Located twenty miles from Sanderson, Texas, the ranch raised Hereford cattle and Rambouillet sheep and was owned by N. M. Mitchell, who served as director of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce and was an advocate of programs to produce sterile flie to control screw worms. Mitchell's son had a similar ranching operation a few miles away from his father's ranch.

FR199 Mosely Ranch Photograph Collection, 1925-1975 25 negatives. Includes images of the interiors and exteriors of various buildings, two men posing with a bull by railroad tracks, people at dining table drinking, tree and lakes, men with cattle in pen, and three men talking. The ranch was located south of Mineral Wells, Texas on the Brazos River.
FR200 Moser Ranch Photograph Collection, 1925-1975 Article only, no prints or negatives. Moser Ranch had farming and ranching operations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. In 1958, Moser was named President of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, making him the first man from east of Dallas to become president in the association's 81 year history.
